Recently, Lithium jump starters have become the thing. The trouble is they are all 12 volt. Has anyone found a 6 volt one or are we destined to carry around an extra 6v Optima?

We shouldn't need jump starters if we maintain the cars properly and drive 'em.

Wes, I accept your explanation. I was sensitive because of all the smart alec remarks on the other forums and elsewhere (trolls). Sometimes curt comments can seem to be a "put down." I took your comment as a judgment on Chuck's reason for asking a simple question. Apparently Chuck didn't take it that way and that's a good thing. Glad everyone is happy. KTF.

P.S. I've never carried a spare battery and only needed one once in 20+ years. My battery did go flat once when I put a stereo in the car and found out the hard way that it drew current even when turned off. Push started the car and all was well. Put a switch on the stereo to turn it totally off.
You never know........

Bought this one and it turned out to be 12v, just advertised incorrectly! I'm in the process of sending it back.

Mark:
I think the problem with someone assuming another's question is without merit quickly is that it tends to eliminate learning not only by that person, but sometimes shuts down a discussion topic that others could contribute to because of their experience. That tends to happen with politically minded people rather than the technical minded people associated with this forum.

I personally agree with those who believe that if a vehicle is well maintained you reduce the risk of experiencing failure, but I also am concerned of being put in the position of having to use a wrecker with a vehicle that is valuable to me. David Jones comment, for example, provides good thoughts on the issue.

That must be it Doug. That was posted 7 years ago. I don't feel so bad about my memory now.
