#1 Post by Charles H Jacobus »

I'm new to this site and trying to post a picture in the Avatar section. The smallest picture I can make is 380KB and when I try to use this I get an error message. What's the largest picture you can use?

Thanks

200KB, there are instructions on top of the page under FAQ's
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

Chuck: Welcome, and while you're adding an avatar you'll want to add your location. Somebody in your area may be able to give you local advice. Tom

My Avatar photo can not be displayed. Can a board administrator contact me about reinstalling a photo?

Thanks

Chuck: please go to the FAQ section at the link below - placing an Avatar is the last topic in the thread
The key is putting your photo through the size reduction app that's referenced with a link in the instructions. The max size for an avatar is 10KB - that's very small.
Follow the directions carefully and report back.
Good luck!

Greg:
I used the program and it still didn't work. This was the result of the program:
Original Image Size 3264 W by 1836 H and 766 K (784826 bytes)
New Image Size 125 W by 70 H and 5 K (5264 bytes).

Any thoughts?

Chuck - I just changed my avatar using the process in the FAQ. Try it again and if you still are unsuccessful, call me at 530-542-1341

Well, as you can see Greg Bryan solved my problem. The same Avatar program didn't work on my computer with IE or Chrome. He took my picture, converted it to the proper size on his machine, sent it back and I successfully integrated it.

It says a lot that the site has such quality moderators that will go out of their way to help members.

THANK YOU Greg!!
