I'm a long term Porsche owner (17 since 1967 including 2 356s) and just bought a renovated one. I never had any issue with the parking brake, but this one has trouble holding position. Has anyone had this problem and fixed it without removal / replacement of the entire piece? Thanks for your help in advance.

Re: Emergency brake
Thank you, thank you, thank you Doug, Greg and Alan K! I worked on the unit yesterday and fixed it. It turns out that the bent washer was in backward and the spring was in the wrong order (plus some grime). I'm now sure I would not have figured it out without your help! I can't imagine how it got that way because the person who owned the car and oversaw the rebuilding (Ron Hanada) was a very fastidious man as shown by his marking of many left over bags of screws and other innocuous parts- all of them neatly packed in boxes. He would never put up with an emergency brake that wouldn't work.Doug McDonnell wrote:Great link here about cleaning unit: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10094
