1963 356 Cabriolet on Bring a Trailer

#1 Post by JohnSParsley »

A color-changed, numbers-matching '63 just sold on Bring a Trailer at $165K. A link is shown below. Members might find some of the comments below the photos to be interesting. Bring a Trailer is rapidly becoming credible and far less expensive competition for the more established classic car auction houses.

There were a very few small things wrong but all in all that was a very nice car it looked like.

Whats with the comments? Most were flagged in some way and many didn't make a lot of sense to me.

That's what I don't like about BAT, the peanut gallery gets kinda crazy sometimes.

I know you like the big auction site, but where people gather, the peanut galley seems to show up.

I like BAT and bought a car through their auctions. The process is set up to sell cars, unlike the majority of eBay listings. I found there are two groups of people participating. The smaller group are the real bidders/buyers. The others have found a hobby in posting comments, the usual self-proclaimed internet experts. Plenty of bulls**t, though once in a while someone will add something useful. If you look through the comments, you'll notice that rarely will a poster make a bid and most of the real bidders don't post any comments. Want to be an expert on MGAs or Giulias? Wait for one to come up on BAT and start spewing the BS.
