early A cab color frame

#1 Post by Massimiliano Del Monte »

Hello guys,
the flat part in the picture of an early A cab must be body colour or beige as the steering column?
This car born Lagogreen metallic and in this picture is possible to see some green spots.
Thanks for your help.

Massimiliano,
Typically that part is painted the same color as the rest of the frame. Usually it was either black or beige.
IF you research some of the old Registry talk archives, there was an article of a top being restored on an early cab.
It had a lot of detail for the framework,

Here is a picture of my original, un-restored 58 Cab taken while installing a new top. The car is light ivory and the top had never been apart previously. Hope it helps, Christian

We recently got in a 55 Continental Cab and the top frame is a light green, the car has been sitting for 45 years in the same place.

not sure about the early A or when they changed the top frame from the pre astyle .. Buy the pre a cab top frames were painted the body color .. The original wood bows on my 55 cab were painted body color also .. i assume the early top frames ( pre A) were put together then fitted to the cars prior to painting. then the top headliner and canvas was built around the completed car..
Regards
Ned

Pre-A methods carried over to the very early A cars??? Very likely.

Yeah, but I bet I paid a lot more than you did after that tornado. We are un-packing it now and taking an inventory.
