London Classic Car Show
I am heading off to the London Classic Car Show next week and am hoping to see some 356 stuff at the Porsche GB club stand, in addition to other cool old car stuff. Is anyone from the club attending? I will be on my own and would love to run into other members who may be in attendance.
Thanks.
Mark

Re: London Classic Car Show
Hi Mark
We were members of PCGB for years and I always thought that they were more interested in the more modern stuff than the earlier cars. Fred Hampton is the 356 secretary at the club and always tries to raise the profile of the 356 cars within the club. Not sure what 356 related stuff you will see at the London Classic. A really good show for the 356 over here is the Classics at the Castle show at Castle Hedingham in Essex held later in the summer.
Cheers Jay

Thanks, Jay. I have a chance to go to London for this show so I am taking advantage of it. I have an interest in Brit stuff as well so that may become the focus!

Re: London Classic Car Show
Within ten miles of here are numerous classic car specialist companies restoring even vintage hot rods, but mostly Brit Classics, so I find these shows rather an anti climax. I'm an hour and twenty mins from London on the train.

We don't have anything quite like this in the states, and it will be a nice break from the New England winter scene.

It's just two weeks until the Lit Meet www.lalitandtoyshow.com with more 356 stuff (and early 911 stuff) than you can handle in a 5 day weekend.
People will come from London to participate!

If you are interested in seeing some 356 cars near London then considering taking the train out to PRS. There will be more 356s there than at the London Classic. Send Mike Smith an email to arrange a good time.

The London Classic Car show was a great event, with so much to see that even after two days I am sure I did not see everything. A couple of nice 356s were there, including a Pre-A cabriolet in mid-resto. A lot of nice folks to speak with and great response from Porsche Club GB. Of course, many many British marques well represented, and a great Ferrari showing. Really glad I went. I highly recommend it!

Hi Mark , glad you enjoyed the show at the Excel exhibition centre . There were 2 shows on at the same time , the Classic Car Show , and the Historic Motorsport International . THe HMI show was opened by famous historic racer Jackie Ickx on Thursday 23rd Feb , and if you had tickets to Classic Car you could also attend HMI .
You did well to spot any 356s , and Porsches were thin on the ground , some nice 930's on the Tech 9 stand .
Big classic Ferrari display , one of the leading dealers Joe Macari was there with multimillion dollar cars.
The booming classic car restoration industry was well represented , and the 'work in progress' cars were good to examine.
The centre of gravity of the 356 specialists in the UK is probably Essex , draw a 20 mile circle around Southend on Sea and that will do most of it !
