I saw this article and for those that have original acrylic paint or had a very early refinish in the 70's, this article has valuable information. If you car was refinished sometime in the mid 80's and up then you could have single stage urethane or base/clear (clear is also urethane) and this may not apply. After late 80's or early 90's it would very likely be urethane but it is possible that someone put acrylic enamel on your car if they were trying to save money or if they wanted it to looks like factory paint.
