Which spacers to use!?

#1 Post by Jens Hansen »

Another question on which parts to use for my engine assembly.
Engine number 26682, 1600 Normal. What I can find then it's an early engine, but I'm not sure.

When I try to find the correct washer for assembly the I get 2 different part numbers:
616.101.191.00 Bevelded case washer (7 needed)
or
369.01.111 Copper washer (6 needed)

What might be the clue is that there are 6 bolts to tighten and not 7.

If anyone could please help me to answer this question I will be very happy.

Thanks in advance.

Later engines used beveled washers at the 5 large case studs and the 1 large through bolt which has 2 ends therefore the grand total is 7 washers and they seal with a total of 7 o-rings that seat into the bevel and against the case.

Don't I recall correctly that engines that use the beveled washers with O-rings also use a shorter set of case nuts denoted by a ring on them. Looking at the case nuts would be an indication of what your engine had originally.

WHAT? I suppose I can learn something new; but I doubt it.

I think Alan is referring to the head nuts.

This is what I found in the parts catalogue from Jomaparts.com:

"4 616.101.191.00 ......... Beveled case washer, 7 req'd ... .. . . ........ . ........ . .... . .. . . . .. .. ......... . 356A, 8, C, 912"
"369.01.111............. Copper washer, 6 req'd.. .. . . . .... . ..... .. .. .. . . . . . . .... .. . .. . ..... . .. . .. . ... ... ... early 3"

This is what I found in the parts catalogue from Jomaparts.com

Copper washers were used so that's why I asked the question when I couldn't figure out what was/is right.
Wrong washers on the Cam gear bolts.
