Merv, Your photo does show what might be a crack right above the wet area...probably worth a close examination.

Re: Zenith 32s Leaking from Throttle Spindle
Dick, I have a new but stock mechanical pump and the common Airtex (primer only) under the pedal board. I am pretty sure that the fuel pressure is OK. I must admit that I shut off the petcock in the garage however after a couple of mins idling.
Alan, yes I can see what appears to be a crack in that image. I can't see it when looking at the carb in the car or on the bench. I will check again but I pretty sure its not a crack. I will pull the carb off again and test it on the bench with a little pressure this time to see if I can get it to weep. It is in that area I am sure.

Re: Zenith 32s Leaking from Throttle Spindle
On the bench and have induced some fuel pressure (not heat of course) via a vertical tube and a gas reservoir. Added some fine talc to see where the migration starts.
No leaks so far.
I did wonder that are the torque settings for the bolts fixing the throttle plate to the carb body? I wondered of tightening them too much and then the rising heat, might mean that they should not be over tightened?

I'm unfamiliar w/the carb body being shown; The plug is NOT in the Zenith or the Solex carb.

Sorry; I stand corrected.
It shouldn't be connected to the float bowl.

Re: Zenith 32s Leaking from Throttle Spindle
I looked around for torque settings on the bolts through the throttle plate to the carb body, to no avail. On Alfas, Masers, etc they are quoted. On my car there is a sprung/split washer, suggesting that it should not be over tightened.

Mervyn,
The bottom hardware are not bolts; Just regular screws + the spring-ring washers & use a regular screwdriver to tighten.
No torqueing needed.

Thanks Dick. That is all I have done this time. Last time I may have over tightened them.
