That is often the case, but some clubs do a cumulative time of all runs. In rallycross it is always a cumulative time.

Great picture from 73! I was not aware these vents took place then.

Hmmm, I've done a few rallycrosses- even one in my Miata, they also awarded the fastest run. But it's been a few years.

Regarding autocross, also known sometimes as slalom or gymkhana, those have certainly been going on since the 1950's.

Nice, Miata's do everything well. I used to run 4000's, lost the 2009 NER championship to an STI, but it was close. I also had a turbo swapped car that I flipped. Have not been out since.

Sorry if I strayed off topic here...

I think you are still on topic as Adam is a flipper too. Paul, that C didn't have drum brakes, did it? It looks very much like my first 356 which I bought in Cleveland around that time, $300 without an engine. Mine claimed to be a C, but I have my doubts.

Many years ago there was a great rallycross-style event in Kentucky, the "White Lightnin Run," I won three years in a row in my Mazda 323 GTX

How's THAT for off-topic!

Mazda and Audi mules plowing through the pasture? I thought you were supposed to leave most of the good earth where you found it.

It's Autocross season everywhere. The PCA Zone 1 Autocross was held Aug 20/21 here in the Boston area and son, Rob came from AZ with two of his sons to play. The boyz drove the 914 (I bought it new to autocross - that's all it's ever done) while Rob and I made a lot of noise with Blackie. A second and third in both cars in different classes. Yes, I got beat but I taught him how to drive. The whole family had a great time, great fun!

Yeah, part of our crew ran in the Zone 1 autocross, they were commenting how serious some of the Zone 1 guys are, spraying their tires between runs and stuff like that.

I've done two autocrosses this year, once with the 356 and once with the 914. I have to say the 914 is more fun, the extra power means I can really hammer it. Today I took it out and was doing the same and better times than all the guy's with 6 cylinders, 911's, Boxsters, and Cayman's.
The kids loved coming today and Daddy won his class, I didn't tell them I was the only 914 there, why ruin it?

A last shot, I made it in the local paper.

To get it back to 356's, my man Greg was driving his C Coupe, and I can't beat him, so I knew if I brought the 914 I could still win my class, and I did.

Today was great, pushed the car as hard as it would go because I got stuck on the same time the last three runs. But wow, what a day, perfect weather and I was turning some of the same times as the 911's, but I bet I had more fun!

That would be 2....
Classic. 35 years from now you can tell everyone how you finished 2nd in your first event. Hopefully no one will bother to look up the lineup. 8)
Over time the story will get better, because technically I won the class because the other 356, driven by my friend Greg, seen here, was having carb problems in the 2nd go out and stopped running after 6 runs, while I made it through all 8. So he was a DNF for the event.
That was excellent strategy, Adam! Just like LeMans, ya gotta finish!
