Hey Bob,
Happy Birthday to yours. Your car looks just like mine. 1956 356A coupe Polyantha red. My chrome wheels are reproduction and I am trying to find correct date matched wheels for it. I understand most wheels are dated about three months before production date of car. Can you give me the brand and date on your wheels . That would kind of give me a idea on the lead time they were working with in 1956. My car is 56731 was produced in August and it came with painted wheels. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Is your car a sunroof? Beige interior?
About the wheels, I expected to be helpful, but...
The car is very original (one paint job), but
the chrome rims are repo: no date, no name, no nothing.
But, they are pretty compared to 60 year old chrome rims. I am not the original owner but know these were the
rims on the car when I got it, about four years ago.

I have 5 steel wheels that look original and assumed they came with the car. But, the dates are 8 56.
Sorry to not be helpful; it surprised me, too.

Bob, Thank you. No sunroof and it has black interior. My car also had the chrome repos when I bought it back again in 2003. They look great and ride perfect, but because of the values of these cars now I am not driving it as much. So I am cleaning up a few things and trying to make it more original.
The sunroof really makes your car special.
