He probably had no connection, I would assume they just searched for small cars for him to pose with to accentuate his size. On the site Brad references he is posed with a few "small" cars.

Period photo of a Pre A bent window Coupe in rally trim (hood straps, headlight guards, auxiliary lights) with a cloth sunroof.
Does anyone know what year they changed from opposing windshield wipers to having them operate in parallel?

Hi Trevor, parallel-motion wipers started in ~April/May 1954. This car is a normal '53 model year coupe. Great photo!

Thanks James!
I found these pics online from the 1953 Rallye des Alpes / Alpine Rally. Same car #302 that was posted on the first page of this thread. Looks to be an early 1953 1500 Super, notice the very low rear wheel arch profile.

Are you guys planning on producing these for sale. I'd love one on my '63 S-90.

Me again. I put one on my '63 Type II. There is a VW aftermarket company that will make one to size. That is where mine came from.

Yes, Craig Richter's 60 Coupe got the first one and is coming out of paint next week. Once it's upholstered we'll let you know so you can see it.Jim Liberty wrote:Are you guys planning on producing these for sale. I'd love one on my '63 S-90.

Another pic of Gmund 356/2-008 at the 1949 Geneva Motor Show from a different vantage point with the cloth sunroof in the open position.

I'm happy to say Jack Staggs and I finished Craig Richter's 1960 Coupe (with the cloth sunroof we added); well as much as any car can be finished If anyone would like to see the cloth sunroof in person, Craig and Jack will be debuting it at the Palms to Pines event this weekend.

Re: Golde / Webasto - Folding cloth fabric sunroof
Danke vielmals zu meine Kumpels, Jack, Trevor and Kerry, for the rebirth of this beautiful '60 356. Last weekend after a great Pines to Palms drive, Jack and I unveiled her to my brother-in-law, Pat Lovejoy, who has been her caretaker since 1965. "Lucretia" as he named her, was his graduation from Pharmacy school present from my wonderful sister Georgann. Many heartfelt tears diluted our wineglasses as we toasted all the fun (and trouble) we got Lucretia into over the years. Now she is ready for her new life in Austria and another 50 years of fun! Ganz herzlich danken.
