Golde / Webasto - Folding cloth fabric sunroof
I've started this thread to gather all the information in one place regarding cloth sunroofs. Jack Staggs and I are in the process of having reproduction parts made and installing a cloth sunroof into a 356 now and I would love to see if others have any pictures to share, specifically from the inside of the car.
There was a nice article back in the Registry Magazine Volume 38 Number 1 - May/June 2014, page 18 detailing two cars that were ordered with cloth sunroofs. Quite a fascinating read...
In addition I've found these period photos:

Here are a few more pics. The black 53 is one that Tim @ Carrera Motorsports restored.
A split window currently in Europe with a cloth sunroof.

These cloth sunroofs were mostly installed in Pre A's, however with Porsche there's always an exception to the rule. Here's a 1963 RHD T6 - Vin 124792 currently advertised for sale and claims that a Webasto sunroof is listed on the Kardex. The seller states: Has Porsche Certificate of Authenticity showing supply by AFN on 18.6.63. AFN kardex notes fitment of Webasto roof from new.

And last but certainly not least, a friend in the 356 world turned me on to another friend that happened to have a 356 roof clip that has a Golde cloth sunroof (in storage for 30 years) from a 1956 (telltale signs that is a 56 are the aquamarine metallic paint, curved windshield opening and the center to center distance for the mounting holes for coat hooks). We are using this as a template for the reproduction pieces were installing with the exception that instead of a wood under frame, we are going to use steel.

Good idea!
See if you can add some VINs.

I would like to know if some of these are original ragtops or modified beetle units. Or are they even a modern version, as I have seen new electric versions used in custom beetles before.

Golde and Webasto are the same company? I have a T6 coupe with a Webasto sunroof, not a cloth one, a regular one. I'll post pics when I get back from Stoddard.

They do not appear to be the same company:

Golde and Webasto are totally different companies. I titled this thread with both companies because both made cloth sunroofs for Porsche and I'm interested in cloth sunroofs as fitted to 356's.

Another split window cloth sunroof car. Somebody here must know the story on this giant man.

Guy's T6, this one is not an original cloth sunroof, but still really cool!

In the photo above (split with canvas sunroof) second tallest Dutch man -- see http://www.thetallestman.com/rigardusrijnhout.htm
I couldn't find out what connection he had to the Porsche.
