Hi Gene,
So happens, I have a complete set of NOS reproduction luggage available. Here's a few pics.
This set fits all coupes with rear flip down seats. Three pieces with matching leather straps of the correct design as well as the cases themselves. You may call, text or email me if interested.

Or.....how about original?
Original luggage piece for the front trunk area fits 356 thru T-5.
I'm told this piece was available '55-'57.
Bought it years ago for my '59.
I have it listed in the For Sale section.
Cheers,
Rich Peters

Rich, I love this piece also. I'm restoring a '55 Continental Coupe, and will look for one of these in Black or Red. .........................Jim.

PS. the Abarth on a stock 1500/1600 sounds aw-sum. I've put them on the last number (4) of Pre-A cars I've restored. ..................Jim.

Here it is on the '52 split case. I think it is cool indeed. I put one on my '57 Renault 4-CV when it was a new car. I could not afford a VW in those days, let alone a 356.

Beautiful Jim! That's a Super with 40 PBIC. Looks like you did a bit of upgrading. ;-)

Yes James, that is an original Pre - A deep sump used by the factory on their competition cars in the 50s. I always use Carrillo rods, and Shasta pistons/jugs even on the Pre - A motors, and a 12V system. On the '52 the W/W motor is on the far left, above the key. I found that an early SKODA motor was an exact match. The car is my Avatar on the Forum.

Jim,
The best reproduction fitted suitcase for under the front hood is sold by Fibersteel. It is the most accurate design. If you compare Fibersteel's to the other one pictured in one of these posts, you'll notice that Fibersteel's has an "Overbite" in the front when you close it as the originals did. The one pictured here, closes evenly in the front with no overbite. Regards, Bob
