Distributor

#1 Post by Wayne Narciso »

Anyone know where I can get the Bosch 050 distributor...don't need a rebuilt original, but may have to if I can't find one. I installed the Bosch 009 and my idle is all over the map...bad idea... and as I've learned the 009 has a different advance...thank you Wayne :D

The 009 is a VW distributor and not suitable for a 356. The 050 is an aftermarket replacement. Your 356 came either with a VJR4BR18 or a 0 231 129 022. Those are the ones you should get.

Hello,
050 is a bad idea because the parts are becoming unavailable as are the distributors themselves.

They are available here but cost 110.41 GBP = $204 + shipping.

I bought a new 050 but found it worse than the worn out distributor it replaced.

I ended up buying yet another one a 022, which, after rebuilding copes with hill starts

without burning out the clutch.
