hi all. does anybody have a source for the little chromed rivet that holds the top part of the vent window to the frame ?

Hi Gus,
Over here in the U.K they are easily available from Karmann Connection. having just replaced one in our 356 B Coupe. I think they are only about 6 dollars each. Karmann Connection Import most of their spares from the Stoddard Company in Ohio in the States.
Failing that , if you are not too bothered about originality, you can fit a 4mm domed/pan head stainless steel screw and nyloc nut to secure the vent pivot point
