Window Trim
I am considering the look of trim less front and rear windows.
I have already gone for a few features on my 356c rebuild that have shifted away from stock, I don't want to use the word outlaw however I would use the term personal preference.
I have seen pictures of cars without the trim and I understand it's not to everyone's taste but I just like the simplicity of the look.
Are there any negatives that I may be missing in relation to not using the trim pieces?

Re: Window Trim
Could anyone out there who has installed their front and rear glass without the aluminium trims please offer their opinion on this.
Does the rubber sit correctly?
Does it look odd having the recess in the rubber and no trim?
I have seen lots of pictures but I haven't actually been up close and personal with a car that has had the trim removed.

Re: Window Trim
It likely will be interpreted as an installation where someone lost, forgot, or was not aware of the existence of the trim pieces.

Eric,
If you want to see what the trim might look like in black and you have a friend with a 356 a roll of black plastic electrical tape placed on top of the aluminum trip would give you an idea what it would look like...just a thought.

Re: Window Trim
Years ago, I had a '58 coupe that was an outlaw: lowered, flared rear fenders, Ansen Sprint aluminum wheels, nerf bars, etc. When I bought it, it was missing the rear trim. I left it that way.
The window seals for VW's actually come in two forms. One has the slit for the trim, the other without for the "Cal" look.
I think without the trim, the look will be dependent in the color of the car. Covering it with black tape us a good suggestion.

Re: Window Trim
Don, unfortunately where I live, 356's are very thin on the ground.
I have managed to get to the bottom of it.
Pre A rubber comes in a long length and will fit a C car, it needs joined with a glue.
I used wurth super glue to join the 2 ends of my hood seal, very strong stuff, so this should work well.
As you say Mike I think it will depend on the color of the car, my car is heron grey, however I think it looks well on any light coloured car.
I'll post a picture and a description of how I got on when it's done next month.

Here's a picture of a Pre A with the rear window trim less, I think this has a good look against the light paint.
