The window frame is chrome-plated brass. Not going to weld to a steel door.

Thanks, Jay, it's been a long time since body shops did a lot of brazing.

Re: 1959 356A door vent window
You have a T5 (1960ym) door. T5B Coupe doors are made from the same stampings as the 58/59 T2A doors. There is just an extra piece welded into the window channel to support the vent window frame. The date stamp is consistent with a early production 1960 356Btom collingwood wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 2:58 pm I have a door with vent window in my parts stash. The window regulator date is 6/59
how can a vent window door have a 6/59 window regulator?
I thought vent windows came out in 1960?

No. Cabriolet and coupe doors are very different, especially at the top of the door near the rear of the door.tom collingwood wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 3:42 pmwould coupe and cabrio door shells be the same? perhaps i have a cabrio door?David Jones wrote:6/59 is very late in "A" production and as we all know Porsche could do anything they wanted and I am sure if someone wanted a vent window and was willing to pay they would have done it, especially as they would have been tooling up for the 1960 T5 bodies which would be rolling off the line less than 3 months after that date in 9/59.

the frame slides out.Norm Miller wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 12:49 am Tom,
I've been studying the door's window frame and think it might be welded into the door.
That said I would guess someone welded a 60's frame into a 58-9 door.
Can you slide the frame out of the door?
Norm
The door has no lower wedge" of a 1958 door.
So it must be an early production B door.

I was going to do the same to my 1959, but i just couldnt do it. I wanted to look "correct" 356A instead of enjoying the fresh air of vent windows.
