Possible but unlikely unless someone put an early "B" door on it. "A" cabrios did have vent windows
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

Apparently late "A" Carrera GT coupes had them according to an earlier thread on this topic.

According to the 356A Parts Katalog illustration 66a, vent window with plexiglass was available for "Carrera coupe 'Gran Turismo'" .

There's no mention of a real glass version. Pages aren't dated.

BUT, on page 464a the page is titled: Vent window for Coupe upon special request. First item listed is: 644 542 105 00, glass -- vent wing. So, somewhere along to way a real glass main door window got left out of the book -- I guess.

Ref the Conradt book, page 122, where the vent window for coupe was proposed in the T-4 Program of Jan 23, 1958. Same page, last paragraph, it says "... the coupe vent windows did not enter production on the T-2"

I don't remember seeing any Kardex mentioning these windows as an option.

I have a door with vent window in my parts stash. The window regulator date is 6/59

how can a vent window door have a 6/59 window regulator?

I thought vent windows came out in 1960?

6/59 is very late in "A" production and as we all know Porsche could do anything they wanted and I am sure if someone wanted a vent window and was willing to pay they would have done it, especially as they would have been tooling up for the 1960 T5 bodies which would be rolling off the line less than 3 months after that date in 9/59.

IF it is a Cab. Door and IF it has not be modified it will NOT have a hole with a Recess in the Rear edge of the door.

The Hole is there to take a 6mm Bolt and Washer.
The Bolt has a Special Slightly Domed Head and is there to support the rear part of a Coupe Window Frame

This location is the one where a considerable number of people just fit a standard bolt
The correct Part No. 900 189 002 02

thanks, the door has a hole in the edge of the door for the bolt and washer.

would it be possible that the 6/1959 window regulator would be from a cabriolet?

I think it's a 1960 door. 6/59 would be a fair lead time as it is an outsourced item, considering 60 production starts in August +/-.

I was going to do the same to my 1959, but i just couldnt do it. I wanted to look "correct" 356A instead of enjoying the fresh air of vent windows.

Tom,

I've been studying the door's window frame and think it might be welded into the door.
That said I would guess someone welded a 60's frame into a 58-9 door.
Can you slide the frame out of the door?
