Fuel Line Routing

Does anyone have a photo or a detailed diagram which shows how exactly the fuel line runs behind the fan housing on a C-car. I am not able to fit the fuel line clamp (Stoddard P/N 999-511-007-02) to the M6 bolt that sticks out at the back of the fan housing.

Peter It appears that there is a small L shaped bracket. At least there is on my 65. Here is the best I could do with my Ipad

I don't have a photo, but here's an excerpt from a Harry Pellow description in 1999 of how the clamp and bracket go together:

[OK, the Right Angle Bracket you mentioned should be (L)-shaped, with a
weld-nut on the short end. Into that weld nut goes a 6mm Bolt that holds a
strap that goes around the fuel line to hold it in place.

The longer leg of the L has two holes in it. The lower one goes onto
the 6mm Through Bolt that holds the Oil Filter Can Bracket to the Fan Shroud.

Note that there is (or should be) a VERY Large- about 1.5 inch diameter
and pretty thick (about and 1/8 of an inch), Washer that goes on the
Flywheel side of the Fan Shroud to spread the load of tightening this bolt
up. (If your engine does not have this large, thick washer, tsk. tsk.)

The L-shaped Bracket goes on the OUTSIDE of this thick washer, not the
inside like in some installations I have seen.

After that, I prefer to stack a 6mm flat washer followed by a thin 6mm
wavy washer followed by a Blue Loktited 6mm nut of appropriate plating to
keep things together.

Please note that access to the 6mm through bolt is by REMOVING the Oil
Filter Can. This is easily accomplished by using a 12mm Open End wrench to
remove both inlet and outlet oil lined from the Oil Filter Can, followed by
loosening the 13mm or 14mm ATF Bolt in the Oil Filter Can Strap a few turns.
Oil Filter Can may now be lifted out- keep the Can Vertical or oil WILL leak
out! And there in the Oil Filter Can Bracket is the 6mm through bolt you
can now reach.]

Doug, Dave - Thanks for the quick reply.
I have the L-shaped bracket, but it just did not look 'Porsche' to me. Now I know better.

Is the p clamp yellow cad and is the bracket the same color as the shroud?

The problem may lie in the fact that the rubber hose for the fuel line is not where it should be so you can attach it with the clamp. You may have to cut the fuel line ferrules and install new rubber hose with clamps to put it in the correct location.

If you need to replace the hose, use a short piece of OEM 7mm ID braided hose
on the 8mm steel lines (wipe on & in a little silicon paste to enable the slip-fit
of approx. 3/4" and NO clamps are required, OR you can add fuel hose end caps
(by Stoddard) and NO crimping needed.
