Re: 356C Dash Controller
Eric, Here's a photo of mine after I finished with both the blasting and paint (for the arrows). I think it was a soft media (green in color) that Don uses for cleaning the "teeth". I think he uses the blasting to etch the metal casting before he bonds the porcelain to it for the finish. Tomorrow I will ask him what it consists of.

Thanks John,
That looks good.
I will wait to hear what type of media Don uses.

Re: 356C Dash Controller
Eric,
The compound Don uses in his dental lab is "Paasche" brand aluminum Oxide compound. The stuff is labeled as "AEX" and comes in 5 or 25 lb. cans. Here's a link to one vender of the stuff:
http://www.tcpglobal.com/PASAEX-5.html? ... ZHj_VL4KQk
There are other places to get the stuff, but using the Paasche air gun or similar unit is also part of the trick. It's a small unit much like an air brush used for painting. It's not too aggressive because he also uses it on gold castings (and you don't want to cut that too fast.) You will also need to be very careful masking off the piece to prevent etching the shiny chrome part. If all else fails you could ship the piece to me and we'll do it for you (but I understand that postage over seas may make that unrealistic.)

Re: 356C Dash Controller
John,
Thank you for all the information, I have yet to locate a controller so I could be getting ahead of myself.
As soon as I find one I will be in a better position to know exactly what I need to do.
There was a reasonably priced unit being advertised on the registry however I have sent a few enquiries over the past couple of days with no response.
When I do get one, if I can't find anyone locally using this product I could post, it isn't that much to have the job done right.
I will Let you know John how I progress.

Re: 356C Dash Controller
Eric,
I am a bit confined with a round or the "shingles" and spent more time on the computer than usual for me. I think I saw a couple dash control units on the Samba site. I have one left from my "C" project but one of the studs on it is also broken. I can check to see of there is enough threads left to properly mount it and let you know. Perhaps you know of a shop or skilled welder who can do a repair on the broken stud.

Re: 356C Dash Controller
John,
I thank you for your kind offer.
I have been contacted by another registry member and he has offered to sell me one which is in a nice condition.
On a slightly separate note, is there any difference in the cables between the B and C controller. I ask as I would simply remove the cables from the B controller I have and attach them to the C controller.

Eric,
According to the spare parts catalog, there are no changes in the fresh air system from the "B" model. See section 7/12C of the "C" supplement. It simply references back to the "B" catalog and the cable appears at section 7/12A.

Re: 356C Dash Controller
Tom,
Those brackets were perfect thank you, well worth it.
They are utilised on the opposite end, mounted to the unit under the hood, fitted perfectly.
I must send you a picture when I get back from the pit in August.
