Headlight seal to body

#1 Post by Fred Gruendig »

Hi all,
Just got the euro headlights and seals from Sierra Madra.
The seals are way to thick.
Does anyone make a thinner seal? IM?
Thanks,
Fred

I don't have any experience with the seals from SMC. I get mine from Klasse 356.

I used the NLA seals, (likely IM) and all was well.
Also lubed a little with some dish soap to help the light bezel seat on the seal.

It is likely the SMC seals are the correct, sort-of "W" cross section, as they are a generally reliable supplier. Unfortunately, it is more likely that your buckets are mounted too deeply in the fender, a common mistake of body builders. I DO hope that I am wrong!

Thanks everyone!
I purchased new seals from Zims and they are thinner.
The euro's went on fine. All seals are NOT the same.
Thanks,
Fred

Actualy there are/were 2-different seals--1-for the 356=644 631 115 00 & 1-for the 900 series=ending w/-02 .
