Problems with Mike Lempert

#1 Post by Joris Koning »

Guys,

has anybody had any recent dealings with Mike Lempert? I have know Mike for quite some time and have always had real good dealings with him. recently he worked on two steering wheels for me. I paid for them two months ago but despite repeated promises I have not received anything to this date. Requests for tracking numbers in recent weeks have gone unanswered. I'd hate to put in a claim with the credit card company but the complete lack of communication from Mike is forcing me to consider this.

Anybody else have similar experience?

Hi Joris
Sorry to hear this. I had problems too. Work paid for and not done-for almost a year. No contact via email or phone. Had to have a friend go to his house and pick up my rare steering wheel parts for me.
Not a fun experience and I won't go there again.

I don't know Mike at all. I have always very happily worked with Bruce Crawford. But sometimes things happen to people (illness, troubles, etc.) that are difficult to handle well. Often they are embarrassed. I am not saying don't protect your interests. Rather not to overreact. Especially if you have worked with him before.

Edwin,

Great comment and good advice! I had a stroke a little more than
a year ago, and I was hospitalized and out of touch for several
months. Hope something like this hasn't happened to Mike.

I have spoken to Mike in the past. Have not ordered a wheel from him yet. My impression of Mike was he was very personable and knowledgeable and was quick to response to my questions. I recall not ordering an A wheel style because at the time he did not offer a hub adapter so I could use an original A horn button with his wheels.

I bought a couple of wheels, one for an MGA and also for an Austin Healey 100-6. Nice guy and professional, he seems to be fine and posting frequently on his Facebook, maybe you can contact him thru Facebook.

Hi have dealt with Mike. Very personable, very knowledgeable, slower than death trying to walk and a bad communicator. Told me he had a lot of health issues which limits his ability to work. He is also VERY disorganized and he thought he had lost my wheel on more than one occasion. He sent him a wheel to do a few years ago. I think the only reason I received it back within 9 months is that a pestered him. Would not deal with him again.

My 2 cents.

Good luck!

I know two people who are excellent people, honest, and will promise the world, with good intentions. Unfortunately neither are capable of completing anything they start. Maybe Mike now has a similar affliction.

I also have had problems with Mike. I bought a steering wheel from him that later broke. I sent to him to repair and nothing heard for 9 months. He did send back in the condition that I initially sent to him. George K
