source for 644.423.625.01 clutch cable Spherical nut ?

The stamped tags are on the way yesterday; thanks for the job.

I can't find the clutch adjusting nut you're asking for in all my parts books and #updates--even in Stoddard's catalog(?).
The rear cable end radiused/6mm adjusting nut (which usually gets lost during cable breakage) is #356 23 213.
The cabel's front end nut is either a 7 or 8mm nut w/part #644 23 220 or 695 423 407 00 per Stoddard's catalog, Pg 30.
Which end do you need?

thanks for the update.
try the NLA site & search on 'clutch cable'. it's very well laid out listing parts for all variants.
the 644 (& earlier) type takes the 8MM spherical nut @ the rear.

I was thinking this as well, but haven't been able to follow up. guessing the VW type will be 6MM
requiring drill & tap. NBD.

The 644-423-625-01 part number is right in your 356A parts catalog, page 257 (original page), if you have an original book. It has an M-8 thread (versus earlier nut with M-6 thread).

The present nut (w/8mm thread) is being manufactured as part number: 356-23-213-8M note the suffix of 8M.

The older nut (w/6 mm thread) is 356-23-213 .

Strange that the 8mm nut # isn't listed in my 'A' parts book, but I did make a note in the referance column of the 6mm nut #.
