Building a Rotisserie (Dimensions etc...)

#1 Post by Alexander George »

Hello,
I would like to build my own Rotisserie to restore the 55.
Was wondering if anyone has a design for a Rotisserie designed specifically for a 356.
Basically, I would need Dimensions, Where to secure the Body shell from etc... etc...
Maybe some pics and some detailed sketch Plan..
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Alex

Check out the short video in projects 5 years in 13 min.
I used a couple of Harbor Freight engine stands plus a little steel work and it held the T-1 for 3 or 4 years and worked fine.
Had about $300 in it.

I have plans and pictures of a rotisserie originally designed by Gary Emory. I have built 3 of them and love to use them for restoration projects. Please send me you email and I will forward the plans. I cannot upload pdf files to the Talk list.

Hello Bob,
Thanks for your help, Sounds exactly what I was looking for.
I was a bit worried from where to clamp the shell to the Rotisserie. At first I thought to fix it from the bumper brackets. However, I'm not to sure it will stand the stress when turning over.
Today a guy is coming over to have a look at the car, so as I can Soda Blast the car and get it ready for a proper full resto.
Anyway thanks for your support.
Looking forward for the PDF file.
Regards
Alex

we have rotisserie plans on our website. go to home page, click on 'media' and scroll down. really simple and easy to build, and fits in a one car garage.

Probably it could, but we would have to make the centre piece a bit longer so it can fit the whole ship.
