My email address is in my profile, but I still don't see (or others tell me) that the 'email' button isn't visible in my posts.
DOUBLE CLICK THE IMAGES TO MAKE THEM BIGGER
email button.jpg
If the 'email' button as circled above is NOT visible in your posts, follow the instructions below
Click on USER CONTROL PANEL in the upper right of the screen where you are seeing this message
356Talk1.jpg
You'll be taken to a screen where on the far left hand side in the "margin" there is a choice of BOARD PREFERENCES - click there.
Board Preferences.jpg
You will see a display with a bunch of "radio" button choices in the middle right of the screen. The top line (USERS CAN CONTACT ME BY EMAIL) lets you pick yes or no for other users seeing your email. Click yes and you'll have an email button at the bottom of your posts
(Thank you Rosemary for the step-by-step)

CLICK 'SUBMIT' TO SAVE YOUR PREFERENCES

I've never asked a question on the forum - what should I include to get a great answer?

Make sure you've added your location so people can refer you to local 356 resources (see above for step-by-step instructions)
Include the year and model of your car, such as '62 Roadster S90
Make your Subject Line specific - Write "Brakes Pull to the Left", not "Need Help"
Give some background to your problem - "Ever since I got my car back from the body shop, the turn signals don't work ... "

But by all means, ask! There are hundreds of experts looking at the forum.

How to Post a Photo on 356Talk (by Barry Brisco)

When making a post on 356Talk, below the large white "Message body" text window and below the "Submit" button is the "Upload Attachment" area.

Click the "Browse" button to the right of the "Filename" box.
Add a Pic2.PNG
Browse your computer's hard drive and select the photo file you want to post. After you select it, that file name will show in the "Filename" box. Click the 'Open' button.
(This can be the hard part - you must know the file location on your computer of the picture you want to post)
Add a Pic4.PNG
Verify that you have the desired Filename and Click the "Add the file" button just below and to the right of "Browse".
Add a Pic5.PNG
If you wish, enter a text caption for the photo in the "File comment" text box.

For any photo file you can select "Place inline", meaning it will insert the photo wherever you place the text entry cursor.
Add a Pic6.PNG

You can "Preview" your post, with photo, by clicking "Preview", or click the "Submit" button to make the post.
If you "Preview" the picture and you're happy with the results, make sure you then click the "Submit" button to save.

How do I insert an AVATAR in my profile?

An avatar is the small stamp-sized photo that you see on the left hand side of many members' posts. The avatar is a very small (125 pixels x 125 pixels) image. Virtually any photo you have in your collection is larger than this size, so it has to be resized to the small format. Not to worry, there's a utility on the internet to do it for you - go figure!
Read the entire contents of this post first to get an overview of how to accomplish this simple task.

The picture above is Jack's existing avatar. We're going to replace it, but it's the same process for adding one from scratch.

Step One - find the picture you want to make into your avatar. Note - this will not alter your original picture.
Take note of the file location of the picture on your computer, because you're going to have to find it again in the next step.
image[1] (2).jpg
Here's the picture we'll make into an avatar. You'll see that the picture is over 1 MB in size - way too large for an avatar as is.

Step two - resizing the picture
Go to this website - click the link

http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/

Here's what you'll see after clicking the link. Hit 'Browse' to find the picture you want to resize. Change the Avatar Size to 125. Hit 'Resize' - be patient.
Avatar2.PNG
After clicking "Resize", you will get 3 choices - pick the one you like the best and download it to your desktop so you can easily find it.

Follow the instructions after you hit the 'Download this picture Now' - Give the file a name you'll remember and Save it to your desktop so it's easy to find for the next step.
Avatar3.PNG
OK, now that you have the image for your avatar, it's time to place it. Make sure you're Signed in to the 356 Registry site, and click 'User Control Panel'
You can double click on the image below to see a bigger view.
Avatar4.PNG
Click 'Profile'
Avatar5.PNG
click 'Edit avatar'
Avatar6.PNG
You're now ready to place your avatar - the first step is to find the file you just made and stored on your desktop.
Click 'Browse'
Avatar7.PNG
You will see a box to select your file. Click on the file and hit 'Open'
Avatar8.PNG
Last step - make sure you have the correct file and press 'Submit'
Avatar8-1.PNG
If all was successful, you will see an image of the new avatar
Avatar8-2.PNG
The finished product.
