P116, again
It appears as if there are at least two distinct versions of this tool. One version, a photo of which was posted a while back by Jon Bunin, suggests that it is a workshop tool. It has 4 pins. Another is a tool that was in the tool kit delivered with 4 cam cars. It has two pins and is fashioned like the spanner P208 which is the tool used for a similar application on early 911s It has a double bend in the handle to clear the pulley and the diameter of the pins is 9 mm. The holes in the pulley are considerably larger--10 mm and are on about a 60 mm diameter circle. I have also seen home made tools for this application. One in particular has performed admirably in the pits of early 60s SCCA racing and has been used in the rebuilding of more than 500 4 cam engines. It has three pins but they are only 8 mm in diameter and are on a 52 mm diameter circle. How is it possible for it to fit? Are there two different pulleys?
If anyone could post top and side views of the two tools described and the pulley(s) it would be appreciated. And, if there is more than one pulley, please advise. And, and if there is more than one pulley, when was the second introduced.
I have differing reports on the use of the tool kit tool. Some say ..."works fine" Others say ..."it is not stable".
Gerry, Joris, Jon...et al.

Re: P116, again
Hi Ab
The flat fans as used on the Elva-Porshe had a different pulley. Late model 911s use a 3 pin tool to hold the camshaft i have not seen any other 3 pin tool?
j
If the pulley was over tightened by an impact wrench or someone using the 4 pin tool the tool kit 2 pin would have issues.

Ab, The 2-pin 116 wrench fits the tool kit bag better so it'll roll up easier vs the 4-pin tool.

Hey Jon,
A friend showed me a picture of one of those recently. Is it a factory piece? Never seen one before.
Cheers,
Joris

P116 is stamped into the handle. As observed on a lot [most] of hand stamped Factory tools the characters are not aligned, but exhibit random alignment.
It looks like the tool was proportioned for a balanced die design. Is the end without the pins offset to clear the pulley as well? If so, with the addition of the requisite pins, can this be considered a spare working end?

Thanks for posting the pictures of the tool you make for the tool kit. Handle looks a little thicker than the OEM one; Yes?
