1962 S-90 on eBay

#1 Post by Vic Skirmants »

Interesting coupe. Black on black, low miles. Built in July 1962 and is equipped with a November 1963 C transmission.
Original and matching according to the fancy Porsche certificate.

They obviously don't know how to look at the report they paid for. Check marks by engine type and engine number indicating matching. X by transmission type and number indicating non matching.

Dont think a "beautifully restored example" would use a zip tie to attach fresh air drain hose on and latter air filters and fuel pump.

"Very Original Car"

Well except for the fact that it started out Ruby Red, was delivered new in Germany (so maybe should have Euro Gauges, reflectors ,etc), Later Blaupunkt with Becker type speakers, No coach builder badge, etc. Also pretty skeptical of miles - why the transaxle change?

Of course the biggest concern I would have if I was considering this car - not one picture of the bottom of this car!

But do like the 356 Registry decal in window - someone here know this car?

Registry badge shows up on many 356s for sale. I guess the seller thinks that is a badge of legitimacy?

Zero mechanical history and seats w/o pleats are not good signs at the posted price point!

So many cars are listed on-line these days with useless photos for showing paint and body work. Too many BAT sellers try to be camera artists, or hire a pro for a slew of pretty pictures. Peanut gallery basement dwellers seem to like that. But simple clear outdoor photos taken on a cloudy day are best for showing the truth. This car wouldn't fair well at all.
