Hi everyone,
Can someone please tell me what numbers should appear on the 2 sides on a 1958 engine case.
I know the left half usually has a stamped serial No. but what should the right half show.
engine type or engine size such as 1600.

Re: engine Case Numbers
Right side has either a 1600 or 1600S in 1958.

Re: engine Case Numbers
The 5-#'s on the left case 1/2 is not the serial #, but it would indicate the
so-called case date/series which were charted by the late Harry Pellow's
data sheet in his website/manual.
Thusly, your engine would be in the #25---(approx. date=3rd/4th qrtr.'57)
thru #30---(approx. date=3rd qrtr. '58) mfg. series.
