dome light wiring harness

#1 Post by Ed Martinez »

I'm trying to install a new dome light wiring harness, from YnZ in my T5 60 coupe. So far the project has been painless since the new harness fits just right. But when I got to the dome light harness I've hit a roadblock. It seems short. I can't get it to reach both lights. Has anybody confronted this problem? Incorrect path/routing is probably the likely cause.
Went back and inspected the old harness and the light connections were attached to, what I deem (incorrectly?), should be the behind-dash connection.

This is the seventh year after I took everything apart and I now realize I didn't take enough pictures and notes. Memory and dismantling notes are not helping any !

Thanks!

Does the YnZ harness match the old one in terms of length of each wire?

FYI, Part number is 644-612-035-07 and can be ordered from Porsche.

Brad, thanks for the info. They are identical in length.

Ed did you get it in? If not I am again able to get to the forum. Short to drivers side dome light, long across front of windshield area then to passengers side dome light. feed remaining through the drivers side A pillar then over to light hole in center of dash.

Doug, thanks! Yesterday I tried it and it fit perfectly. My problem was that I was routing down through the dash and not through the windshield! Thanks again!!

Did it last year and struggled until I figured it out after several different tries and routings. Lucky for you I still remember.
