Dan,

I believe Bob answered your question about dimensions above. I will measure mine as well and report if I get a different reading, but I assume it will be the same.

Brad Ripley wrote:Correction -- the current Stoddard reproduction DOES NOT have the so-called original dimple. Plus, the internal threads are in a brass insert (can't be seen when installed).

Is everyone sure that all originals have a dimple?

The dimple is the injection site for the plastic and is usually to be avoided with this type of part. However, it does avoid having to polish the part to smooth over the injection "teat".
Brad, I don't think there's a positive answer to that question. The words "everyone" and "all" preclude that. For the record, on the 356C that I bought new in '64, the knob had a dimple. There's also a dimple in the knob on my current '65 C, but because I'm the third owner I can't say for sure it is THE original knob.

Cheers,
Wes

I realize the thread is about T-6 knobs but based on Jim Alton's statement that all 356B's and C's used the same part number, does it stand to reason that the dimple would also be present on T-5 knobs? I'm pretty sure the knob on my 1960 is original and it has no dimple. Or is this a case of a subtle physical change being made while retaining the same part number? Thanks in advance for any help--
Jon

That knob is a perfect job for a 3D printer. It won't be long.

What is the thread diameter and pitch of the 356 B shift Knob?
