If you ever come by the shop you can check out our walls which have lots of strange and rare stuff on display, everything from a Gmund door panel to a 904 exhaust. We are having an open house Saturday August 30th, I invite everyone to attend.

Most likely, Vic. It was shown during the old "Das Varoom" event back in mid-2005.

Vic,
Jerry had a red 356a coupe with chrome bumpers. Very nice original car, had it here at the shop to tune up before he left Ohio to move south. I believe it was the only Porsche he took with him.

I recall Jerry had this car at the 1985 ECH in New Bedford, MA. He had recently acquired it from Bill Durland who I believe sold it to buy the ex-Bruce Anderson SC-GT.

What happened to Jerry Keyser? Is he still involved with 356's?

Re: Something strange in every stash
Lastest barn raid is showing some strange stuff.
The "custom" made Carrera-esque backing plates, the plasma torch hole is a nice touch.
Or the gearbox with the axle bent way way back, I asked the guy about it. He said his daughter rolled her Twin Grill Roadster but he saved the gearbox!
Never a dull moment.

Re: Something strange in every stash
I think I've seen one on a rack--I'm not sure I ever saw one on a car. The listing in the February 1959 Accessories brochure doesn't even include a picture.Perry Pessia wrote:I had never even heard of the chrome bumper option until now. I assume it was available front and rear? Any idea of how many were built this way?

chrome bumper
I remember seeing Jerry Keyser`s 59 Coupe with chrome bumpers back in the 80s. Here`s a pic of one I saw at RennV.

Old issues of Christophorus sometimes show photos of unusual options, i.e., chrome-plated bumpers, wire wheels, etc.

If these cars could talk, we could find out who was the Stud, and why?

I have an engraved dash plaque that says "The Ripper" in script, pried out of a junk VW many years ago. Maybe referring to the 40 hp engine, or the driver?
