Looks about the right size to hold a soft top.

Nope, no one cared about those in the old days, these were just cars....John Hearn wrote:My guess is cheesehead screws..................

Hello Adam,
I lived in Langhorne, Pa in the 50s and 60s. I remember seeing a Speedster in the early 60s around
town . Interesting that the factory would ship a box of that size to an individual with Holberts about a 30
minute drive away. The shipping crate is a " cool find "

Re: Something strange in every stash
The latest you can't make this stuff up. A friend in OR said he had a 912 he wanted to sell. He wanted to keep the wheels, I said ok. He said he would put some roller wheels on it for shipping, works for me. He got creative and it was hilarious. I think I got a combination of BMW and Mercedes wheels, the trick to getting them to work was he walled out the lug holes to get them to fit. I'm glad I got 4 wheels that had good tires, it made un-loading the car pretty easy, which is all I needed, so a perfect solution!

That is amazing! Necessity is a mother. I thought those bolt patterns were standardized ...

Latest find in a car, I can't imagine the effects this stuff would have, it looks very scary.

Ok, here is some truly strange stuff. Someone wanted to add a pipe here and add a pipe there. And I've never seen an open top valve cover!

These were funny. Looks like someone had a dream to hand make some C Cab mirror mounts. Wonder when they gave up. Oh well, into the box they go, 30 years from now when someone buys me out they can wonder anew!

Re: Something strange in every stash
I once bought a huge stash of factory posters, and some were still in their original 1960s or 1970s shipping tubes marked "PORSCHE" with appropriate shipping labels addressed to the buyer. Most of the posters are now long gone, but I still haven't done anything with the special tubes. I should list them for sale or take them to the LA Lit Meet.
