Cadmium Plater In So. Calif. Wanted....THAT WONT LOSE PARTS!

#1 Post by Joe Ruiz »

Anyone knows a good cadmium plater in So. Calif. that can plate even the smallest of parts and NOT LOSE ANYTHING!!!! There is nothing more frustrating than when you are assembling a pair of Weber 40DCM Sandcast carburetors for your Carrera and you find out that the plater lost some of your parts!!! Even worse, when you go back and ask where are the rest of the parts and the person behind the counter just "shrugg" their shoulders and say, "I dont know" !!!

Has anyone ever had this experiance??? I dont mind paying good $$$$ to have it done correctly but more important, NOT LOSE ANYTHING!!!!!! Please send me an email at: mrokrasa@earthlink.net Your help would keep my hair on my head where it belongs rather than on the floor from me pulling it out in disgust!!!

Cheers! Joe #9593

Joe,
I sympathize with you, having lost parts at the platers more
than once.
Now when I send parts to the platers I wire the small parts
together and also take a photo and list inventory that goes with the
shipment. I never send tiny screws and they are almost guaranteed to get
lost. I have an Eastwood plating kit that I use for those items. With
practice it provides a good finish that is similar to the bright white
cad.
Sorry I cannot recommend a plater in your area.

Cadmium Plater In So. Calif. Wanted....THAT WONT LOSE PARTS!

#3 Post by Joris Koning »

Had a plater who never lost anything till the day he did loose one of my
parts. As Murphy would dictate he lost one of the impossible to find
throttle brakets for a set of Weber 40 DCM2 carbs. For those of you
interested, those were originally clear zinc as we had it tested for plating
before it got lost.

Lost parts

#4 Post by Bob Watts »

Joe,
Lost a part at the platers. Two years later, as they were going out of business, I went to their shop and jumped (I could in those days) into the empty stripping container. The part was there.
GOOD LUCK!
