What makes you think the carbs are the problem? Not trying to be a smarta$$, but one well known carb expert on this Forum instructed me and others on this Forum to be sure your tuneup and timing specs are in order before your blame the Carbs.

If you are sure it is your carbs, I recommend Kurt at Porschetechnik in Flagstaff,AZ.
They do excellent work. My Solex P40 split shafts came back better then new.

Local mechanic and I noticed major petro leaks coming from one of carbs, told me to shut down as fire hazard. Therefore bought all new gaskets from Stoddard. I know not major problem but would like 2nd opinion with knowledge of 356's Do you know anyone worthy within southwest Missouri too have a look ?

Jerry,
You don't mention what carbs you have on the car, but Zeniths would be the correct issue. If that's the case, Zeniths leak in several places, and some of the leaks are date-specific. All the leaks can be fixed.
So, are they Zeniths? Are the original to the car? Need some info.

The good thing about carbs, unlike engines and gearboxes, is that they are easily shipped, so don't get hung up trying to find a local person to do the re-build, better to find someone who knows our little carbs, there are plenty of well known carb re-builder's out there.

Jerry I had Ron at precision matter rebuild my zeniths and they came back like new and all I needed to do was set idle and balance them. I haven't had to touch them in the 2000 miles since installing them. Ron did a outstanding job and he is on the registery vender list. His shop is located in California. I boxed them up and sent them to him and they came back well packed in a 10 day turn around time. Hope this helps and good luck. George

Jerry,
Solex carbs are not factory issue for any push-rod engines in 1958. So we really need more info; who has done what you your engine?

I definitely would not use the Wheatley Brothers.. I`ve had one transaction with them and they are definitely not honest...
