Hi everyone,

I just picked up this near perfect enamel Porsche sign. The seller told me some story about only 50 of these being made, and that Porsche told the maker to destroy the signs because they didn't like them.. Supposibly the maker destroyed only a few and kept the rest..

Now, has anyone heard this story before? It seems weird to me, because the guy told me they were made in Germany, but I know there's another version of this sign with Italian text on it.
Also, I know of 2 more around here and even 2 more with friends outside the country.. Sounds like there are more around than 50 pieces?

Here are some pics:

Thanks in advance for any provided information or history about these signs.
Kai

Fyi: "originele onderdelen" is Duch and means "original parts".
Never seen this Porsche sign, the VW signs were on every VW workshop.

Jan.

Maybe it was a case where Porsche told them to destroy them because they were not authorized to use the Porsche logo. For a while Porsche was pretty aggressive in their trademark (still probably are) and went after even the little fish in reguards to using their logos.

This could be the case, Jim.
I'd like to find out more about this, please let me know if you hear more. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I got that! To me it has another meaning, wondered if it has a specific meaning to you.

Kai, I talk to Dutch people the worst part of the day, but more often than not I don't seem to be able to make myself clear, mostly about money. :(

Jan.
