yes I saw Jim's entry.

as I said in the beginning, it is not really me who is looking for the car.
I am looking on behalf of someone in France who bought the car.

and before calling numbers...I am hoping someone knows the car and it's location.

regards,

What a story, I don't think he can be considered as actual owner of the car, money is surely gone and the car too. Fred do you know the poor guy ?

Today Frederic Ballot called me regarding the comments made about his company, European Vintage Car company. I suggested that he respond here on this forum personally to clarify any questions that have been asked. I told him, and he agreed that I would post his contact info here for anyone wishing to get in touch. His company address is 4742 E. Preserve Way, Cave Creek, AZ 85311 (I assume a home office address). Phone number 480-318-8803 or 480-575-7237. His web site is www.europeanvintagecarcompany.com.

at this point, I'm leaving it to the owners of this car to chime in.

or Frederick Ballot the dealer, could explain why he has not shipped the car in 5 months or why he is not returning the calls of the buyer and seller who have been calling him for weeks.
he was very quick to call mr. Maltby
My goal was to find the car and it's owners which I did.

Charlie or anyone else .....if you would like to know more....
send me your phone number and i will call you with more info.

Let's just say this is one of several cars that have ended up at this dealer with unhappy customers as a result.

I don't know what went down with this deal, sounds like we may never know here on this board but I do know of a scenerio that happens quite often with dealers who consign high end cars for other people. Recently a deal came to my attention that went down like this:

Buyer A buys a high end Porsche for $70,000, pays for the car and it is shipped to him in the mid-west. But the consigner says he has to get the title from the owner. Weeks pass no title. So the buyer goes through the paperwork he has on the car and finds the owner of the car and calls him and asks why he won't send the title to the consigner? The actual owner of the car is very surprised and asks the buyer why he only paid a deposit but won't pay for the additional balance for the car. What? What? It seems the dealer/consigner was playing both sides against each other. He told the owner of the car that he still had the car, had received a deposit so it was considered sold, but was waiting on the balance. He than told the buyer (the guy who was now in possession on the car) that the owner was having title problems but it would get sorted out. So what happened is he got paid for the car, used that money to buy something else, and when it came time to pay the actual owner for the car he didn't have the money, so he was stalling for time, probably hoping to sell another car. Robing Peter to pay Paul, or Three Car Monty, or whatever you want to call it, he was playing fast and loose with other people's money.
The buyer and seller gave the consigner/dealer 10 days to straighten it out, he came up with the money, paid the owner, who released the title and sent it to the buyer. All was well in the end.

Either way, it sounds like this site helped get this deal sorted out, or at least got it moving after it had stalled. Nothing disinfects like daylight.

There is a guy in the Puget Sound area "alledgedly" preying on sports car buyers from Washington and California, mostly on Craigslist. In essence, the same MO as the dealer in AZ. PM me if you want his name.
