Help me bring 58016 back to life!

#1 Post by Tenn Xoomsai »

hi,
Today i got a call from my uncle, he have a 356A serial no. 58016, that's been off the road for about 25 years.
the car on the jack stand under a shade. He want to resurrect it and since he like what i did to my early 911. He think that i can help... well i know nothing about 356. so i know you guys can help me to help him. :D

At some point it was partly taking apart. Lot's of parts is missing but the only thing that worry me is the transmission and rear suspension. The only thing that i saw intact at the rear is the spring plate. we are try to figure it out what we need and plan the restoration.

we know that we want it to be a mild out law.

the question for today is
what are my option for transmission and suspension?
any other alternative? since we want to make mild outlaw, originality is not our big concern.
who can i get them from?
if we are going to use type 4 VW engine would the transmission from VW will work too?
oh, we are in south east asia, so part are pretty much impossible to get locally. I am not even sure if there is more than one 356A around, i saw a few b and c.

thanks you for your help.
