I've heard there is a private Porsche museum in or near Gmund, I think its the one mentioned in this link (which I retrieved by Google search): http://www.theautounion.net/index.php?topic=2453.0
I do recall hearing from people who have been there that its definitely worthwhile.

Interesting. One of the photos of the Gmund museum has a Convertible D with the same license plate (K 45 • 286) as used by Porsche #1 in its day.Jim Neil wrote:I've heard there is a private Porsche museum in or near Gmund, I think its the one mentioned in this link (which I retrieved by Google search): http://www.theautounion.net/index.php?topic=2453.0

Train
Ron, if you have the time, take the train or dirve to Salzburg. It is a lovely town. There are two bus tours I suggest. 1. Don't laugh, Sound of Music bus tour. I worked construction for over 20 years and never thought I would do such a thing, had a blast.
2. Herr Hitlers Eagles Nest bus tour, un friggin belivable.
I have been to Europe many times and Salzburg may be one of my favorite center points for day trips.
Even better if you drive. There are large lakes with small towns at the waters edge close to Salzburg.
It is beyond beautiful.

Hi Ron,
I've been in Gmünd twice on the way to my vacation adress. Actually, both times I slept right next to the museum and I slept wonderful knowing so many Porsches were standing just a few meters away.
It is called 'Porsche Museum Helmut Pfeifhofer'. It's address is A-9853, Gmünd.
Enjoy your stay in Europe!
