Update: The Roadster cover finally disintegrated a year or so ago so I got a padded one piece cover. I had to buy the SUV version as all the "car" ones were somewhat to way too small in diameter.

I contemplated getting my steering wheel restored as there was quite a few Knicks and marks, however opted to have it covered instead.

I got the wheel back today after having it covered in black Napa leather.

The company that did the work used the cross stitch which gives it a more period look.

It turned out well, great detailed works especially on the spokes.

K & H Upholstery in Garden Grove, California also sews on the leather covers with very nice stitching. I believe they told me it is about $500.

Thanks Eric,
Probably cost more to send my wheel to Ireland than to have it covered here.
Regards,
Don

Don, you're not thinking clearly. Take the wheel to Ireland on the plane and stay for two weeks while they cover it. Wander from town to town visiting pubs and enjoying good beer and food. Well worth the price!

I just did the wheel as part of the interior on my 66 912. Our local Island interior shop (http://jdupholsteryllc.com/ ) did it. Joe is super, he had a car on the lawn at pebble last year. He hand sewed the wheel, used the same leather as the seats. I made a fixture to hold both the 356 and 912 wheels.

He made the entire interior from scratch for the 912. I liked the Singer woven leather 911's and went that way. He did everything head liner, carpet, seats dash, even the trunk. I bought hides from Spinneybeck, Square weave from Universal. Showed him a few photos and we were off. It took 3 weeks to complete but I am more than happy.

Need a wheel done give him a call. is very good and reliable.

Several folks at the Early 911S Registry have recommended Dallas Custom Steering Wheel <http://dallassteeringwheel.com/> for leather steering wheel covers.

A year ago they were asking about $379 + $20 shipping and offering a 4-5 day turnaround.

Don,

It cost €140 euro which is about $160 dollars.

See what the postage costs would be from your end, I know posting from here to the USA is cheaper than posting from the USA to here for some reason.

I called into the shop last month and they were working on this 911.

It has woven leather seats that they made, stunning job.

More pictures on their website.
