pre-a 3 or 4 gauges?

when it changed from 3 up to 4 gauges?
my 2/53 have dash with 4 gauges,but on pictures that i found they have 3 gauges.
i am missing the fuelgauge but in my tank there is fuelsender unit.

My '53 cab has Temp, spedo, Tac. No Tank sender.

My '55 is a late production unit with a fuel gauge.

They added the fuel gauge for the '54 model year if I remember correctly. My '53 doesn't have the fuel gauge either and was first registered in November of that year.

Mine's a 53 model year car produced in early 54....no fuel gauge/sender.

Brett's book page 94 says: System Beck (pneumatic) fuel gauge appeared at coupe 52030 and cabriolet 60550 -- 1954 model year beginning, which was in April 1954. The electric VDO gauge replaced it at or around coupe 53527 and cabriolet 60816.

Must have book if you are restoring , Doc My 53 cab is some hundreds production below 60550. It had the pneoumatic system when I found it, Time/Sun decoloration on the gauges green tone faces match all three instruments? Car was special order from Zapaterias Canada (S lopez Chavez) maybe it was aded later?

Most probably it was added later, it wouldn't take much to do it.
Lets face it most of the early cars will have been modified at some point, usually to make them look more "modern". I know mine was.

I guess you are right, I wonder what happen to the oil temp. gauge that was in that hole?
also I dont know if Beck date stamped his gauges on the back I will check mine.
