There's no question that at least for British cars, they're mounted so they tighten as the car is driven forward, and that's the way they left the factory.

But they look so nice CJ. Especially with the centers painted to match the car.

Rudge wheels are in conflict with every engineering principle that Porsche relied on to build their reputation. Having them on your car is an indication that you drive real slow and have no idea what good handling feels like.

You know me too well CJ. My wife won't even ride with me. You know that Red triangle on the back of a farm wagon. That's my car badge.

Well, they are three or four times heavier than what you could use, but you have to balance that by the fact that they're 20 - 30 more expensive than good wheels.

That's called a "performance improvement".

Fortunately, the car in question isn't mine; I like TecnoMagnesio on my Roadster. Four of them weigh about the same as one Rudge.

I actually know a gentleman who bought a 300 SL just to get Rudge wheels for his car.

My assumption has always been they were used to make wheel changes quicker when racing but I don't see how that could make up for the additional unsprung weight.

Totally agree about Rudge's, and don't really care for the look of them anyway. Techno's look great and probably very light, but I like the plain jane look of 5.5 steelies just as much.

Forget the arrow on the spinner. There is only one rule you need to know:
To undo the nut/spinner on either side of the car, push towards the front!

Most all the spinners have been re-chromed including the removable center disc with the arrow. There is a 50-50 chance the disc has been pressed back in the spinner with the wrong thread direction.
