I enjoy seeing pics of your car Pelias, thank you for posting. Your 356 reminds me of my friend Tony's Pre A.

Alright Hawkeye James,...how ya getting 53 from that picture. Not that I doubt you, haha.
The little bit of dash that shows is likely the tell. Two gauges,...so that narrows it. Must be knob placement that pegged it for you.
What's the scoop?

The headlight pull switch knob and the 7 holes for the Porsche script. And maybe there not being a cut-out in the bodywork for exhaust pipes. So this probably means its '53 calender year too. Hard to see the gauges, as the image is a bit blurry there.Steve Harrison wrote:Alright Hawkeye James,...how ya getting 53 from that picture. Not that I doubt you, haha.

Re: Does anyone know something about this car?
Ah yes, the seven pin script holes. I know in 55 it was down to five. But when was the switch? Would a 54 have seven or five?
And the headlight knob looks like a medium size ivory,...yes, all knobs ivory till 54 but they still did have ivory as an option in 54 and 55 too....so that's still a toss up to me. The script pin thing is the most water tight it seems,..just wondering if that may be 54 too, or how about a late 52, (after the splits).
(I know this car is confirmed by Trevor as a 53 as you guessed,...but just wondering out loud about stuff)

Re: Does anyone know something about this car?
Not a '52 model year because of the beehives. And not a '54 as they laid out the dash differently on the far left, just like the '55 dash. Also, the early ivory headlight knobs are standard Bosch "stepped" knobs that have a smaller diameter than the '54 and later dash knobs.
I actually didn't know if the '54 cars had 7-rivet scripts or 5-stud ones. Good question! The '55 parts book says the full rivets started at 51585, which is around Dec 1953 in Kardexland. I think I can believe that because 51608 has 5 holes where the script goes on the front

...but 7 holes at the rear. So probably around that time they were switching from one to the other.
Also 51793 (Apr 1954) has 5 holes front and rear.

Old Mustard Lady
The 911 project is finally back in my garage. 2015 will be the 911 year.
It's coated in fresh 6807 sand beige. There's still a lot of work to do on the '68.

HOLLYWOOD // BoB SMiTH 8)
The California Black Plate is still the original plate to the '53. I just added the BS frame.
I was told that the '53 went into storage in 1968. Four decades later it was rescued by its previous owner, Mr Haussler.
Not sure if that story is true. The plate says '68 ...
