Location of e-brake wire "hole"
Hi again,
my 356A restoration continues and since I have nobody nearby with an A car I once again turn to you for help.
When the previous owner did the chassis metal work on my car, he forgot to drill the hole that should be present at the front of the car, between the driver & passenger feet area - i.e. where the e-brake cable enters the inside of the car. I have the rubber boot and the cable but I don't know where I should drill.
I'm trying to figure out exactly where this hole is positioned and how big it should be. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance! Sincerely / Jonas

Do you have the trumpet-shaped piece that passes through the bulkhead?
Maybe somebody can post a photo.

This is what it looks like on my car, photos both from in- and outside the cabin:
Do I need more stuff than the... hole?

Jonas,
There is quite a long guide tube welded into the hole and this is set at a slight angle. As vic says it has a trumpet shaped end to take the rubber boot.
It is not that critical - if you lined it up with the swinging eyelet for the cable the other end should be in the centre of the tunnel having passed throught the bulkhead. It needs to be about 20/25mm above the floor inside the tunnel and there is a support piece attaching the end to the floor. I would guess the tube is about 200mm long with 120mm on the outside. There is a picture in the B/C manual on page T7.
A couple of photos, note the first is RHD so it is a mirror:-
I would drill a pilot hole about 20/25mm above floor level and it needs to be about 15mm off-centre (to the left). But you need to make a tube first.
Best of luck,
John

Yes. Maybe someone will post a photo. (Thanks, John)
It is a trumpet-shaped tube that passes through the bulkhead, with the flare end outside. On the inside it is welded to the tunnel by two"wings". It is also welded to the bulkhead where it passes through.
Adam; can you help?

I'm sure nobody makes that. I might have one somewhere, but I assume Adam Wright would have several.
