My recollection, from a long time ago, is that the originals were different from what you get today. I think that originally there were two furry strips with about a 1/8" space between on the same backing. The screws went in the space and thus the heads were well below the furry parts. With the modern stuff, I use 3M weather strip cement, as was suggested in one of the early posts in this string. Glue is much easier than fiddling with those tiny screws.
I am curious if anyone else remembers the old twin strip?
