1965 356 Paint Color Question
My '65 356 SC numbers matching shows Paint code 6206 on the COA which is Silver Metallic. While trying to find some paint chip repair paint I discovered that was not an available color in '65 and color seems to be last offered in '63. What explanations could I assume since car is indeed Silver Metallic? Thanks.

Re: 1965 356 Paint Color Question
Fred, two possibilities occur to me:
1) The COA is wrong, the car was a different color, and a previous owner repainted the car silver.
2) The COA is correct and the car was special ordered in silver.
I think that #2 is more likely. But other than the COA, what makes you think the car was originally painted silver? By now most 356s have been repainted at least once, if not several times.
Best regards,

In 1967 I bought a 65 SC that was original silver; special order.

Re: 1965 356 Paint Color Question
Barry, the car was painted in 1984 for sure as I bought from guy who owned it 1986 till about 2 years ago. No indication anywhere, and I mean anywhere that the car was another color. I guess just have to assume it was a special order. Appreciate your input, thanks.

Fred: It sounds like a special order-any chance that it's the same car Vic had in 1967?

Vic, does that mean we have the only two Silver Metallics special order?
