lukes and shorman.

#1 Post by Alan Klingen 2 »

I have been asked not to post any thing about lukes and shorman topics the only reason I did Is because I had years of experience with dealing with them there are famous in the San Francisco bay area and important to the history of the 356 that's why I do . Alan The Stable.

Why would you be asked to not post on Lukes and Shoreman?

For some reason the "higher ups" at the registry ask me not to post under threat of losing my posting rights for a few weeks Alan The Stable.

It seems like you hadn’t stepped on anybody’s toes at what I think is a long closed business. Very peculiar.

Agree it makes no sense, both Lukes and Shorman and Alan's shop are long closed so no one could be accused of advertising. Maybe Al Zim has gotten the "higher ups" overly sensitized.

Alan, maybe you mentioned too many owner's names, serial numbers of cars and details about the poor condition of some of the cars, and somebody complained to the "higher ups". Just guessing.

I think we need a little bit of explanation from `The Powers that Be` for this peculiar decision

You may recall that Alan had a stroke several years ago and retired from his business, The Stable. He started participating in the forum last fall and has been a prolific poster since then. He has been making duplicate posts repeatedly which I have to respond to each time to clean up the forum. In this case, a duplicate post was made and reported in this topic. I had previously asked Alan to take his time posting to avoid duplicate posts. I held a two week suspension out as motivation. This behavior repeated. A couple of days ago I had this exchange with Alan. It has nothing to do with this topic.

Alan,
I understand your situation. Glad to have you back in the mix and participating. Your advice is well received.
I double posted when there was a slowdown in the system a while back so I know what causes it. The delay will make it seem that your post didn’t take. If in doubt, wait a bit. It usually will post.
Unfortunately, every double post you make results in one of the good watchdogs sending me a report to investigate the post. I have to remove the post and then go back and clear the report. I have to click on one of the below links at a time. It gets tiresome for something that could have been prevented.
I appreciate your making an extra effort.
Mark

Alan,
Another duplicate post. One more and you’re off the forum for two weeks.

Alan, we value your knowledge and are grateful for your being willing to share it with us. Regarding what Mark is saying about duplicate posts, it's something that most of us have encountered during those times when the forum was slowed to a crawl. I fell victim to it once or twice, but I caught it and deleted my own duplicate posts. When it doesn't appear that your post has been accepted, as Mark says, just wait a few seconds. It will usually post OK. Mark's not telling you that you shouldn't post on the L&S topic. He's just trying to ease some of the workload that being a Moderator entails.

Keep on posting on L&S and on other threads. We enjoy your posts. Just take a little more time if they don't appear to be working.
Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.....

Hey Guys,
Give Alan a break, for goodness sake. I started that thread and I feel Alan is a great resource for info, especially about the San Francisco Bay Area's Porsche 356 history.
