Hot smokey run in CA today

#1 Post by Ron Delmendo »

Listers-

Thank you for the comments on capping the mechanical tach. I solved this by cutting the broken tach cable sleave about 1.5" from the end and threaded a 6mm or so bolt into the cable hole. I used a fuel line worm clamp to secure the end and screwed this onto the oil pump.

The original thread turned into a discussion on oil temps. I had a meeting in the City today and just came back. 100+ F in the valley today and really bad air quality with the fires. Averaged about 125kph on I-80 with oil temp in the right side of the green zone, about 2 o'clock (I'm guesstimating around 200 F oil temp from when I calibrated with the Mainley dipstick).

I have an external filter in the wheel well as well as the stock filter and a NLA aluminum cooler.

Stay cool out there.
Cheers,

Ron
