Re: Low Mount Rear Reflectors for '61
There is a larger reflector. It was required by a country I can't remember at the moment.
The ones I've seen were on Euro cars and were above the bumper.

My car had both when I bought it and it's a driver so I left them all on in the interests of visibility.

Jim, I removed this one from our stock on the shelf. Not original like yours but ours are ready for sale; even come with nut and washer. http://www.nlaparts.com/store/rear-body ... -2995.html Jim, just kidding -- wish I had all the goodies you have in your desk drawer!

my plugs are like original, brass chromed hand polishedChuck House wrote:The large slotted screws were only fitted on early T5s. By late 1960, they used a vinyl/rubber plug. There is not an accurate reproduction available for either that I am aware of.

I stand corrected. It looks like Brad and Frederic are reproducing the chrome slotted screw. Has anyone made an accurate reproduction of the rubber/vinyl plug, which is what Mark really needs for his '61?

My 61 Roadster had slotted screws in it. I purchased the car in 71 when nobody cared about that stuff.

Re: Low Mount Rear Reflectors for '61
I am enjoying all of these comments. My car was never drilled for the above-the-bumper reflectors. I originally thought the holes had been filled by the previous owner, but when the body was stripped we found the lower holes but no evidence of upper holes. The lower holes had been brazed, so they will be reopened. I am not going to drill upper holes since they were never part of the car's history. So now I need to decide whether there should be reflectors, slotted screws, or nylon plugs. I am leaning towards reflectors for visibility and a little more detail, but I am not quite sure.

Do you remember the chassis #?. 88682 doesn't have the slotted screws and it's original paint.

Mine had them below the bumper. Never on top. No doubt about it. Euro car. The marks are still there where the alloy stand offs (spacers) were mounted.

For some reason I was thinking you were going to put the relectors on top and were deciding on what to fill the holes below the bumper with. If you are not going to put reflectors on top, then by all means put the reflectors below the bumper, especially if that's the way it came. You'll need the relector with the longer stud and the angled spacer/rubber washers but I bet NLA or EASY has these. Don't leave it reflectorless

Sorry, I don't have any record of the chassis number. It was a "numbers matching" Super 90 with a bench seat. I, actually bought the car in 73 not 71. The screws were painted over as was the custom with $29.95 paint jobs.

Re: Low Mount Rear Reflectors for '61
$1300 for a numbers matching S-90 Roadster!... and you probably thought you paid too much at the time.
To be perfectly honest, 88682 has nothing in the holes right now. The PO said there was a little black plug in one hole when he got it but it soon fell out. However it is original paint back there and I can't see any marks from the oversized screws so concluded it did have the little rubber/vinyl plugs. I could always be wrong.
