shipping Porsche from Mi to Az...WHO? HELP!

#1 Post by Ken Rogers »

I tried to search in the archives for who to use to shipping my Porsche from Michigan to Arizona. Found nothing. I must not be doing something right. Please advise me who would be a good enclosed trailer car hauler. Thank you.
Joe Jakubus 734-837-1118 out of Michigan is NOT avaliable for the time I require. I hear that he is good so others who need him can call him.
I went on the web and gots lots of haulers but I need insite from you guys.

I have used Gary Almond a number of times and he's very conscientious and reliable. I also know he's headed from Florida to the mid-west some time soon, so it may work well timing-wise.

Transport

Ken, I recently used DAS to transport a 911 from Portland to Virginia. Arrived in an enclosed trailer, none the worse for wear. I've also used them for prior. Seem to know what they are doing. Cost to transport the latest car was 1600 and some change. Car was inoperable.
Good luck,

Reliable ships cars from Michigan to Arizona all the time - Ford uses them and I'm guessing all the other OEMs do too, so they've driven that route quite a few times.

Try Go-2 Transport. They are based out of AZ and are great to work with.

Enclosed Vehicle Transport

You might want to contact

David Littenberg, GCC Logistics
914-450-4951 or email at;
davidlittenberg@gsslogisticssales.com

Just used GCC Loistics to send a Carrera from the Bay Area in California to Connecticut. The price was reasonable, high customer service, very professional, with door to door service in 6 days. There was also excellent communication. The transporters are enclosed and new.

Friends in New York and Connecticut had given the recommendation.

I used DeMoise ( http://www.demoise.com ) to carry my 356 from FL to CA, and 7-8 of my Porsche friends have used them, always with superb service, and I HIGHLY recommend them.

What's wrong with one of the large, well established long-distance commercial carriers? In particular, I've used Intercity Lines twice, and highly recommend them.

Nothing - I have always heard good things about Intercity (but bad things about many of the other "established" companies). But I and many of my buddies had really, really good experiences with DeMoise, a family-run company with their own drivers (including some family) and after 7-10 experiences including friends, I have nothing but really good things to say about them.

I've had a number of cars shipped over the years and have almost always been pleased with the service that I received. I used DeMoise recently and have to say that their service was the best that I've ever experienced. They will definitely be the first call I make next time.

Consider using a named specialty truck line that employs their own drivers. Many times the jobs are handled by central brokers who 'sell' the job to the cheapest bidder who may or may not have the ability to load a small narrow wheel base car, much less know how to hold them down, or even have much of an incentive to exercise care. There have been truckers show up here that I wouldn't let move my lawnmower.

I am with Roy, only use owner operator truckers, never through a trucking broker. Any special instructions will be long gone by the time the acutal truckers get there. I have guys show up all the time to pick up cars and they start screaming at me when the car does not run, saying, "The guy who sold me this job didn't say anything about that!"

So that normally means I get my winch out and then strap the car down myself, but I know how to handle a 356, the truckers don't.

I have had horror stories getting cars picked up, that is why I almost always go get them myself now.

A good place to find owner operators is www.uship.com

Do not EVER use Express Auto Shipping they care shake down scammers!!!!!

Transporter from midwest

Hi Ken,
I used John Magada recently and he has a three place enclosed trailer and a dually rig for towing. It is every bit as nice as you could imagine.
I contracted him through UShip and he gave me a great price for a haul to Ann Arbor and didnt mention anything about the car not running, he just managed it and helped me push it to the garage. His UShip ratings and feedback are great.
He lives nearby in Ohio and makes frequent trips to the California.

He can be reached at the below email or through the U Ship.
